Job Description

Role overview:

A paralegal is required to support Partners and Associates in our Commercial Disputes group. We are looking for someone to take an initial 6 month fixed term contract with us, with the strong possibility of an extension beyond that. The Commercial Disputes group is based at our London office and currently comprises 12 partners, 1 Legal Director and 25 other fee earners.

Key responsibilities

 Document management for contentious matters - including bundling, overseeing photocopying/scanning, arranging, paginating and indexing instructions to counsel and experts, CMC bundles, disclosure bundles, and trial bundles. Also involvement in disclosure preparation.

 Electronic disclosure document review – undertaking first and second level electronic document review.

 Legal research - using legal databases and text books to obtain case law, articles, background, etc. Thereafter, organising this information into a manageable format for the relevant lawyer.

 Procedural research - e.g. looking at a particular issue with reference to the CPR or discovering a particular court fee.

 Outdoor work - e.g. lodging bundles/applications, issuing claim forms. Knowledge, skills and experience

 LPC or BVC graduate highly desirable

 Litigation paralegal / document review experience would be highly desirable but not essential

 Good academic background

 Confident and well presented

 Well organised and IT literate

 Excellent communication skills

 Able to work with minimum supervision

Candidates should have a good academic background, an agile intellect and a practical approach. Just as important is a sociable personality and professionalism. Litigation paralegal experience is highly desired. Excellent academics, i.e. minimum 2.1 degree and good ALevels are essential as well as preferably a good LPC achievement.
