Permanent Legal Project Manager

Job Description

We are looking to recruit an experienced Project Manager to join our growing LPM capability. The successful candidate will ideally be interested in building strong relationships with our reputable Banking, Litigation and/or Corprorate teams. 

The LPM function is being drawn into a central team in order to provide better support for client engagements, scoping for commercial proposals, framework development and LPM tool support.  The role will be engaged on specific engagements as well as provide internal style consultancy advice across the EMEA business.

The role reports directly to the Head of Legal Project Management and forms part of the wider commercial function. 

The main focus of the team is to support the partners in devising scope for pricing proposals for both panel and transactional submissions. The role is both business and client facing and will require frequent contact with key stakeholders, senior colleagues and clients.

This role provides a great opportunity to drive change in the delivery of our legal services, work alongside our process and technology experts, and develop new and better ways of working.

The Role

The detailed responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assist lawyers in developing budgets, process maps and work plans for new and existing legal matters
  • Develop specific client matter project and portfolio documentation and reports, including reviewing and consolidating financial reporting and project metrics
  • Monitor and track legal team activities and provide on-going updates to ensure that legal mandates meet Firm standards and client expectations
  • Identify, manage and mitigate risks on legal matters
  • Implement and manage portfolio client and matter based internal and external reporting
  • Liaise with clients, lawyers, pricing and business development professionals
  • Assist on other special projects as needed

Skills and Experience Required

Work Experience

  • Expertise working in a similar capacity in a professional services firm or as a practicing lawyer or paralegal
  • PRINCE2, APM, Six Sigma, certification or comparable experience is required
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Highly organized with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to work independently and as a key contributor
  • Flexibility to work remotely with a global team
  • Comfortable working with and leading teams of partners, associates and other legal personnel

Education

  • Educated to a degree level

Skills

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel), Visio and project management software; able to learn new applications quickly
  • SharePoint knowledge a plus
  • Experience of enterprise reporting systems
  • A high level of computer literacy and competence
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Good problem solver with a logical and methodical approach to issues

  • Ability to build relationships with and influence senior stakeholders
  • Ability to explain complex financial information to non-finance personnel
