Job Description

THE OPPORTUNITY

This role is flexible and key responsibilities could include a combination of the following:
·      Bulletins / briefings – assisting with writing, putting together and co-ordinating the distribution of, blog posts, eBulletins, briefings, thought leadership pieces and other publications.
·      Blogs - Digital TMT and Sourcing Blog / Data Blog – assisting with the administrative aspects of managing the blogs
·      Disruptive Technology Initiative (DTIs) (an initiative which examines the interaction and impact of technology on eight key sectors (Energy, Banks, Pharmaceuticals and Healthcare, Real estate, Mining, Financial buyers, Consumer and Infrastructure and Transport) as well as focusing on cyber security, legal technology and innovation) - leading and co-ordinating the initiative including all administrative aspects such as setting up meetings, minutes for all work streams, executing actions for work streams and following up on those that are outstanding, liaising with work stream members, maintaining the DTI hub and fielding related queries
·      Research – undertaking various legal and industry research tasks, particularly with respect to:

  • thought leadership themes that we are pursuing, for example: in respect of new emerging technologies, smart legal contracts, contextualised commerce, gaming
  • industry developments and opportunities through market research tasks – including monitoring client and market activity/opportunities
  • particular legal and commercial areas to support fee earner work
·      Powerpoint assistance – Putting together sophisticated powerpoint presentations for client or internal presentations, pitches and capability statements in particular but also infographics for some fee-earning work
·      BD / firm-wide initiatives – involved in a range of ad hoc tasks in conjunction with our BD function, including input into pitches and updating and providing client training teasers. Also involved in updating sector specific development documents and other client-facing materials.
·      TMT Training – responsibility for the administration of TMT training sessions (including continuing competence registration and updating and filing any slides)
·      Know-how repository – we are in the process of confirming potential new know-how repository options. There is a project to be undertaken to ensure that existing TMT materials are uploaded / transferred to any new repository. Once completed there would then be ongoing responsibility for collecting precedent know-how and ensuring that it is appropriately uploaded. Dealing with a range of ad hoc queries for precedents / know-how materials
·      Billing administration – co-ordinating and managing the billing process for a range of work streams for certain clients, including liaising with the TMT team, billing team and members of the client. As well as generating financial reports and provision of management information
·      Select client coordination/administration role- we have a number of large firm clients where we receive a number of matters which need some coordination/liaising with clients
·      Research for client meetings- undertaking research tasks in advance of fee-earners attending meetings with prospective clients
·      Possible overflow trainee work – assisting with a wide variety of fee earning work on an ad hoc basis depending on the team's requirements, including preparing research notes, conformance exercises and due diligence exercises as part of corporate transactions

 

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Skills, experience and qualifications
  • Fluency in spoken and written English
  • LPC qualified desirable
  • Minimum three ‘A’-levels or similar level
  • Degree educated or similar level
  • Exposure to and interest in TMT is a preference
