Description The Legal Services Unit (LSU) is AXA's in house legal department. It is responsible for managing litigated claims on behalf of AXA and it's policyholders.  We are currently seeking an ambitious Senior Claimant Paralegal to manage an extensive and varied portfolio of litigated claims on behalf of AXAs Principal Solicitor. Daily tasks will include issuing legal proceedings, drafting reply to defences, preparing witness statements and preparing claims for trial. What you'll be doing... Drafting and issuing County Court proceedings.  Driving small and fast track matters to settlement whilst keeping indemnity spend and lifecycles to a minimum. Preparing and reviewing evidence. Instructing Counsel, briefing Counsel and seeking Counsel advice. Collating and preparing documentation for trial bundles. Considering and drafting Consent Orders, Applications and Tomlin Orders. Considering detailed hire evidence, medical evidence and other uninsured losses.  Conducting telephone conferences or attending trials where appropriate.  Provide commercially focused legal advice.  Provide supervision and professional development to Claimant paralegals. Comply with the required departmental standards for internal procedures. Qualifications What you'll need... A minimum of either a law degree and/or in the alternative equivalent, relevant litigation or motor insurance experience.  Confident communicator and advocate with the ability to develop relationships and influence at all levels. Sound commercial awareness and the ability to make pragmatic decisions. Team oriented with an experience of and a willingness to mentor, coach and supervise less experienced members of the teams.  Ability to operate with a high level of self sufficiency.  Strong organisational skills.
