We are looking for a Paralegal - Company Secretarial Assistant to join our Company Secretarial team based in Basingstoke. The Company Secretarial team forms part of the Corporate department and provides support to a portfolio of UK companies of all sizes. Working in a small team you will primarily be involved in assisting clients and fee-earners to ensure that companies meet their statutory compliance requirements. You will be involved in maintaining companies’ statutory registers, dealing with Companies House filings, the formation of companies and drafting board minutes and shareholders’ resolutions. You will be responsible for undertaking fee-earning work and helping build our portfolio. You will work closely with the Corporate team and so the role could be a great opportunity for an LPC graduate with an interest in this practice area.

The department The Court Of Protection team is a growing team based in our Basingstoke office. The team acts for vulnerable individuals including management of their care teams through a court appointed Deputy. Whilst the Paralegal- Employment/Court Of Protection will support the COP team and work from our Basingstoke office 1 day per week, it will be based in  Reading  and supervised by our employment team.  The Paralegal-Employment/COP will be the main point of contact for all HR issues and have responsibility for ensuring that all details and information relating to the care staff employed by COP’s clients is accurate and up to date.  Summary of role This is a centralised service in an environment comparable to a corporate group sector.  The Paralegal-Employment/Court Of Protection will assist with the HR function for approximately 250 staff, who are employed through different employers.  There would be 25-30 individuals employing up to 10 people.  Tasks would include: Drafting employment contracts Managing personnel files and accurate storage of employee data (in compliance with GDPR), including maintaining a dedicated personnel database Drafting letters such as pay reviews Issuing and preparing new policies Liaising with external payroll companies re. pay issues Liaising with internal legal support over employment issues, supporting and overseeing case managers in relation to ER Liaising with agencies (managing TOBs) and managing case managers as well as 3rd party suppliers re. actions that can be taken – case managers, parents, insurance companies Implementation of GDPR training & policies Preparing reports as required by the deputy Assisting with wider team projects as required Essential and desirable criteria Degree or CILEX qualification Professional, positive and pro-active self-starter Must have the ability to work alone and on own initiative but within a collegiate environment and create a dynamic and productive team A confident communicator with the ability to liaise with staff at all levels Effective time and project management skills, able to prioritise effectively and work well under pressure Organised with excellent prioritisation and attention to detail Flexible approach and calm manner Reliable with good time keeping Good client facing skills with an ability to be diplomatic Strong IT skills – experience of Microsoft Word and Excel required and Contract Express, SharePoint preferred Experience of managing relationships with external suppliers/providers
