Purpose of the Role FTC for 12 months maternity cover to provide high quality and experienced PA support to a team of partners and fee earners. Duties ►    Initiates and drives the billing process ►    Contributes to fee earners' financial performance by proactively working with fee earners to manage their matter balances ►    Supports fee earners' business development activity ►    Ensures all file management processes are undertaken in a timely manner ►    Undertakes all matter management processes ►      Conflict check and Client Due Diligence processes ►      Accurately completing the end to end Client Matter Inception (CMI) process ►      Drafting of engagement letters ►      Preparation and ongoing review of Quality Risk Management (QRM) checklist ►      Identifying matters for closure and archiving completed files ►    Adheres to firmwide and divisional Best Practice protocols ►    Comprehensive diary management ►      Forward planning ►      Identifying and recommending cost efficient travel options  ►      Ensuring wider meeting requirements are identified and actioned ►    Adheres to the firm's risk and compliance policies and procedures and raises any issues or queries promptly with the relevant Partner and / or Risk and Compliance ►    Successfully completes, on time, all compulsory firm training and returns all complaints and claims questionnaires Knowledge, skills and experience required (bespoke to role) ►    High degree of competence in the use of Microsoft Office suite ►    Excellent verbal and written communication, with appropriate and effective use of grammar and punctuation  ►    Experience gained within a comparable environment and at an appropriate level ►    Willingness to work flexibly to meet client needs

Work will involve handling a mixed litigation caseload mainly arising out of consumer and property disputes of varying complexity and value backed by legal expense insurance. Principal responsibilities: Taking instructions from and attending clients; Advising on legal expense cover; Reviewing claim details and advising on merits; Progressing cases through the litigation process considering all appropriate methods of ADR Ad hoc general research on matters; Active participation in team marketing initiatives; Ensuring files are managed in compliance with Lexcel procedures and, Participating in firm-wide and departmental training sessions. Real Estate Paralegal - Edinburgh The role As a property Paralegal you will work as part of the Transaction Services Team to provide support to fee earners in our Real Estate division. The work of a property Paralegal is varied and includes: All areas of post completion work expected in a busy Real Estate department of a Commercial law firm, including the submission of SDLT returns for the more complex transactions involving renewal leases, linked transactions, properties sold subject to multiple leases and exempt transaction, and the submission of all Land Registry applications to include registration of transfers, charges, unilateral notices, deeds of variation, first registrations etc. Drafting and negotiation of licences to assign, licences to underlet and licences for alteration through to completion; also title work including lease reporting What we are looking for Due to the dynamic nature of the work we do and the clients we seek to serve, the role is not an ordinary 9-5 job. We are looking for someone with a strong work ethic, who takes real pride in their work and who is comfortable working in a fast paced environment. You will have: Previous property paralegal experience. Effective personal organisational and time management skills when managing priorities and incoming task requests.
