Brief   We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced senior Insurance Paralegal/Legal Executive to join our national Insurance team and manage a caseload of high and low value  subrogated recovery claims for property insurers.   The ideal candidate will have 4+ years' experience of managing Claimant subrogated recovery litigation work and be able to work with limited supervision.  The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of claims, including advising clients, preparing all documents and negotiating settlements. The role has been based in London but other locations such as Birmingham or Manchester would also be available for this role.  The role would be a fixed term of 6 months.   The Candidate Required Experience of working in a law firm. Experience of managing a caseload with limited supervision. A motivated self-starter who is a good team player. Professional appearance and manner. Ability to remain calm under pressure.   Insurance at Pinsent Masons   Financial Services is one of the largest in revenue terms of our four Global Sectors.  Insurance sits at the heart of our Financial Services practice, with three out of ten of the firm's top ten clients last year coming from the Insurance sector.   Team Background   The Insurance Team consists of approximately 20 lawyers who focus on both contentious and non-contentious work (the split being roughly 50/50) and sits within a wider Insurance, Regulatory and Products team providing opportunities for close collaboration and cross team working. The Insurance Team's primary clients are leading market insurers as well as other London market entities, life companies and friendly societies, Lloyd's Syndicates, and international insurers with businesses in the UK. Core responsibilities Be a team player who will work together with solicitors to deliver a top quality proactive service to our clients. The role will involve day to day file management and progression, including the following: • Arranging consultations with witnesses and drafting witness statements • Preparing instructions to counsel and collating accompanying documents • Attending counsel in court • Instructing medical and other expert witnesses, including detailed letters of instruction and collating the expert's papers • Arranging witness consultations and taking witness statements • Reviewing medical records and preparing chronologies Key skills • Previous experience of assisting with personal injury claims is not essential but would be advantageous • Evidence of communication skills is essential –the role requires an ability to communicate confidently both verbally and in written form in a clear and concise manner • Must be able to work on own initiative and unsupervised • Must be able to work under pressure to meet required deadlines • Evidence of organisational and time management skills is essential • Quality service - ability to produce work to the high standards required; produce work with accuracy • IT – competent in Word, Excel, Outlook and ideally experience of a case management system and electronic working • Team-working skills - a flexible and self-motivated team player who is able to respect and support others within the team to achieve common goals.
